"A few years ago, Karl lived in a community where everyone in the neighborhood loved the wild deer that roamed the area. Many of his neighbors would buy large bags of corn and leave it out for the deer to eat. Watching them come and eat was a beautiful sight.
But over time, more and more deer would arrive, and the good-intentioned neighbors had to start buying larger and larger bags of corn. After a several more months, the deer became too plentiful, and started becoming a nuisance. Some of the neighbors stopped putting out corn, both because the deer were too numerous, they were creating damage to the community, they were fighting over the free corn, and the corn bags themselves were getting too expensive. Later that year, many of these deer, which had now become dependent on the past corn, started starving. Others became aggressive & desperate for food. They were all unable to take care of themselves now because of the good hand of their "government", ie, the well-intentioned neighbors who fed them and turned these poor dumb animals into "wards of the state".
Exactly the same thing is happening in many of our own communities. Entire cities, like Detroit and Washington DC are completely dependent on welfare, due to well intentioned programs to feed these people. These recipients are like the clueless deer, never knowing that they were once capable of helping themselves, but now many of them roam around like zombies, devoid of any skills or ambition... waiting for their next handout from Uncle Sam.
These people have no future, no hopes, no dreams, no ambition. Nor do their children, or their children's children. Each generation of these "clueless deer" follows the example of their parents. Entire generations of families are lost in the system of good intentions.
God Bless the liberals who want to help all our poor people. And may you pray to God that you NEVER end up on the receiving end of their perpetual feed bags."

Karl would be proud that you shared his story!
ReplyDeleteIs this a true story? I know places in Long Island where this exact stuff has happened!
ReplyDeleteThe deer is adorable, and you write well. However I do wish you were more like Glen Beck or Sarah Palin, or really any other Fox News correspondent. When I listen to libertarian and conservative views I would much rather be able to laugh at them, this is just mildly informative and mostly annoying. If there were more thinly veiled Nazi comparisons, nitpicking of every political move that doesn't revolve around your party's views, and some rage, this blog would be amazing. Although you do have some interesting thoughts, are fairly reasonable, and have a cute animal picture, so good job so far.
ReplyDeleteI guess they could have cooked them in ovens...
